Wow! I stirred up a hornets nest by bringing up politics. Sorry guys, you can blame me.
Let me start by saying that I am in complete agreement with Vega's last post in the GC thread (this discussion has now been moved to its own thread).
As Kris said, we each have our own personal beliefs about political (and religious) issues, so there is no sense trying to persuade each other.
However, I do need to add my 2 cents to Xuzz's comments. Regarding taxes: Even under the current "Bush system", people who earn more still pay WAY more than anyone else (actual and percentage). The top 5% earn 31.99% of all wages, but pay 53.25% of all income taxes. The top 50% pay 96.03% of all income taxes. The bottom 50% are paying a tiny bit of the taxes (3.97%), so you can't give them much of a tax cut by definition. Yet these are the people that Democrats claim to want to give tax cuts. Remember this the next time you hear the "tax cuts for the rich" business. Understand that the so-called rich are about the only ones paying taxes anymore.
The tax cuts have been unfairly labeled by the media to imply that they only help the rich, but that's crap. The "rich" are just being allowed to keep more of their own money. As Vega so eloquently put it, the better off they (and their companies) are, the better off everyone else will be. It is a terrible idea to punish success. If taxes are raised on businesses and employers, they will simply pass this burden on to customers and employees.
As for this election, we will have to agree to disagree if you (Xuzz) think Obama (who has the most liberal record in the U.S. Senate - http://nj.nationaljou rnal.com/voteratings/) is better suited to run our country and unite it than McCain (who has a proven track record of working together with members from both parties).
Either way, our votes in CA and TN won't matter anyway. Obama will get California's electoral votes and McCain will get Tennessee's. There will be very little campaign money spent in either state.
|mike flips: Yes xuzz, thats the whole point. Some people made bad choices and screwed up. But some people got screwed over. I guess my example wasn't that great. How about Enron then. What about the people who lost their savings. (You cant argue they made a bad choice by working there...) What about situations where people's homes are fraudulently stolen. Sure the cases are few and far between, but under the veil, there is a chance that it can be you. Do you say "screw the person" under the veil? I guess if you are a gambling person, you may say, "Hey the odds are 1/10000 that it will be me, so screw him/her" but if you dont want that risk surely you'd help them.
@Vega - we know you will be back in the thread

|How to play in Simulator|
Hey, I just installed the palm simulator and installed BoD, however whenever I try to open I get the next message:
Unhandled exception in thread BiKD:main at 0x74C1174 in uilib_4.dll. The simulation can not continue.
How can I play BoD in the simulator?
|C ya for a bit|
I'm off to Japan for about a month. get to see some of the sights and sounds of Tokyo, but mostly just work . Anyway will be watching my status drop (Cody at least I assume will come back to life). But should have a nice submit when I get back.
|hotwire: Well it's worse than a month. To come over here (Japan) my Treo became an iPhone... Cool in soooo many ways, but greatly lacking in its support of BoD. I guess I'm a finished player. Thank you all for much fun. SZ great game!! My price paid to hours played ratio is incredible. Cheers all, I'll check back from time to time to watch my ranking die.
GJA (hotwire) out!

|Are the best days of the competition over?|
I sense a long conversation coming from recent discussion under the Supernatural level pack page, so I have started a new thread.
-> You haven't submitted in like 12 years.
-> It's quite obvious that you have an evil plan in OS.
-> But I have perfected another level there and I'm very close to submitting a wicked score.
-> So you had better speed things up with your plan.
-> I haven't made much progress in the last month.
-> I just found out my school has WiFi, so I'll be playing even less.
It started as a planned massive submit, but I really haven't been successful at the game lately.
Because of this and school, I have been playing even less.
I had 13 of the 15 records in Old School before Vega started playing them again; now I have maybe 10.
Those are my only un-submitted medals.
I figure since I am not doing so well at this game, and there are other competitions, there isn't much reason to continue attempting the #1 spot.
Cirenco probably left for the same reasons.
It seems like a lot of other players are playing less now, too.
We have reached a stalemate anyway, or at least, the results are predictable whether I keep competing aggressively or not.
So, why keep trying?
I'll probably keep playing until all my hardware fails, but I'm not focused on the competition anymore.
Being #2 is quite good considering I just wanted to be in the Top 50, and then the Top 10.

When going to submit a couple of games to the server, I must have accidentally clicked on 'delete all' instead. Now my recordings are gone. Is there any way to get them back? Any kind of backup or file recovery thing I can use? I'm very sad because one was a gold medal and one silver medal.
|casey: Don't worry Xuzz, I haven't even tried to take back the BoPB gold... yet |
