Bike or Die - Android

Sz,
Do you have plans to port it to Android? It would be AWESOME! =D

Thanks!

YES! With the new Verizon Motorola Droid, this would be awesome indeed. Apparently, a lot of experts in the industry expect Android to become the biggest thing in the mobile phone industry, even overtaking the iPhone. (relax, iPhone users...I know how awesome the iPhone is. I am still undecided between the iPhone and the Droid.)

But Google is a major powerhouse with billions in cash reserve and I'd say they are definitely a force to be reckoned with. < < -- Whoa. Sounds like I work for Google or something. I don't even own stock in it. I'm gonna leave it.

So anyways, Android prides itself on being "open source" and " 'doesn't' isn't in its vocabulary" blah blah....

So it seems that Bike or Die would be a nice fit for the Android platform.

What do ya say, Sz?

Android is, again, Java-based. That'd be more of a rewrite than iPhone, which allows native code.

Also, BoD didn't even need a WebOS port .

Bike or Die can play without using "Classic"?

I am a really intelligent person, and I have absolutely NO idea what all 3 of the above responses mean.

ha!! I totally meant to put that I am a reasonably intelligent person, not REALLY intelligent! Haha that was too funny when I read that. Can you imagine??

For Vega:

Since the OS "Android" is based on Java programming, it would be even more difficult to get BoD to run on it (because the original programming that was made for the Palm has to be completely rewritten to work with Java). iPhone was easier because the same programming code from Palm OS could run on the iPhone (with a little bit of tweaking of course).

Classic is the program that allows you to run old palm programs on the new WebOS that comes on the Pre and the Pixi.

The Pixi if you haven't heard is the "lightweight" version of the Pre set to be released next week by Sprint.

A port or porting is adapting the software so that it is able to be run in an environment that is different than the one it was designed for. So for example, people are saying because WebOS and Android are both Linux-based, they may be able to take WebOS and port it to an Android device - essentially allowing you to have the both of best worlds since you said you really like the Motorola... Bike or Die on the Motorola Droid.

Nike... Thanks for the great explanations man. I like that last paragraph the best, where it talks about possibly porting BoD to the Android. Will it operate smoothly and be playable competitively? or would porting it to Android be second rate play?

Nike? wow. I gotta start spot reading my posts or people are gonna start confusing me for the almighty salty cucumber man.

That question is in Xuzz's domain. I'm interested to know too

Android and webOS are both linux-based, but not really similar in any other way.

BTW: http://www.motionapps.com/classic/tech_specs/ < -- BoD!!
Mr.pickle.
hahaha vega must be getting old, 2 mistakes in the same day :O:O:O

As for how fast bod would run if it was ported to the droid, I dont think xuzz is aware either... Its not nessesarilly a matter of the RAM on a droid(or whatever ram equivelant is with that type of machine)sometimes emulators and such dont run well, for unknown reasons. The palm emulator works horribly on my computer and my computer has ridiculasly sooped up ram, I literally have 80GB of ram,lol

80GB of ram. well considering the most expensive motherboard I could find only supports up to 24BG I think you may be exaggerating just a bit.

I have 81GB.

But Pickle/Kris... as Spence already noted, home computers for general use cannot even support that much RAM. The best comps out there right now only come with about 6 gigs. Even gamers don't need more than 8-12. What the heck are you gonna do with 81 gigs of ram?? That's like having an 81 lane freeway. It's just not necessary.

I suppose it might accelerate your paging file, but once you have more than 16GB of Flash RAM in addition to your RAM memory allocation of 6GB - what is the point? surely you can just close some applications instead.
unless you're processing video with affects and renderring on the fly with millions of frames held in cache... I don't even know how you would use more than 16GB of paging file
Spence

at about 4GB you reach the point of diminishing returns and the only way you will ever take advantage more is is you need to run a memory intensive app like CAD or something.
SPiDeR
I think that Pickle is talking about his hard drive being 80GB, not his RAM.

Ah, so Kris was being ironical... nice one Kris... missed that.
Never occurred to me that there might be confusion between RAM and Storage memory.

i would have suspected that but i have never heard of a hard drive being "ridiculously souped up" unless he has an 80GB solid state drive or something.
