Improving the website, Act 2

Finally, the new website is ready, bringing a lot of long awaited features:
  • Search (see find.php?fp=search)
  • Completely new  Freestyle
  • Reworked page design
  • More convenient private messaging (and you can see your sent messages too)
  • "Preview" before posting
  • URLs in comment become clickable automatically
  • Easy paging through Hall of Fame tables (type page number or player name)
  • and more!

    The search tool is very cool. As Bones discovered, it looks like it only indexes three character words for player names. Any search for 3 character words or less will only turn up players.

    SZ, it effects searches for you too. Any chance at a fix?

    the words shorter than 4 characters are not indexed - this is the default mysql configuration (they say it's because the index would be too big otherwise). but i'm going to see what happens if i changed this setting

    it turns out the index is not that much bigger for 2 and 3 letter words, so i changed it - and you can now search for "Lee" or "Sz"
    mysql excludes some common words by default:

    I searched "Lee" on this page, expecting it to pick up my posts as well as those with "Lee" in the body of the text, but it didn't...

    Actually... I think it may just not have finished indexing yet - I am aware that the index will only be created / reviewed occasionally, rather than instantly...

    Is the "Last Seen" info on profiles only available if you've been seen since the new website began? I see Cirenco was 'seen' on Tuesday!, but for other legends there's no data.

    but as it seems cirinco is going to make a comeback,and he may return with a huge submit of like 40 golds(from what I gather he made a huge entrance the 1st time also)and you yours self(meaning vega)said that cirinco came close to as good as mike,but cirinco now has the element of suprise and may be able to play more hours than mike(mike is in colege and he at least claims not to have hardly any time to play)
    so in my opinion cirinco has the best chance of beating mike out of anyone,exept perhaps you vega..........but your to chicken to try so sad

    sigh piclke...please dont insult players way beyond you own intelligenge and spelling capability.vega has more than once explained his style of playing and if it werent for the fact that i dont have the patience for it i would adapt it as well
