Here are my findings based upon experience:
Do not multitask. You cannot play well while doing other things.
Try playing in low-res mode.
Do not frequently go back and forth between levels; stay at a level until you have a new record.
See how the pros do it. Don't spend hours trying to find your own route.
Turn the full detail off when necessary. In example, that tree in 'Downhill Madness' is in the way.
That's all I have so far, but I am still trying to get to the top 30 or so.
The Two
and also you can get a cool freestyle so you can get a medal below your name

U shouldn't multitask when playing many other games either, but yeah, this one especially.

Wow, i thought low-res would make the game run even quicker AND smoother. Figured the quicker part would make it harder to react and control the bike, but it seem sto improve things. I am SOO going to revisit levels that pissed me off before. What is it with low-res+... it runs even smoother than before but not any faster (as also indicated by another poster's request to run the game as fast as their processor allows)

I kinda disagree with the how pros do it thing. I found that finding my own route was at least half the fun in this game.

Details look pretty and enhance to your scenic route, but for the of passing the levels, they can also distract your gameplay. They're put in places like in the foreground blocking solid ground, or the background making it hard to see. On maps with "invisible" ground, walls, lines, or other hurdles, or those that blend in with the background, switch the display to B& W and Outline.

.

Also, save your own replays as well. Not just those that you completed, but especially those in where you crashed. U'll never notice this when you're too busying playing and concentrating on the game.

Turn on the option confirm quitting the game prematurely. If not that, disable unused buttons. Very frustrating to accidentally hit another button when you're almost done with a hard level

I was saying that u should look at how the pros do it to improve your time. However, I found it quite fun to trail my own path the first time.

But for Pipe Universe, finding a new route can be the most frustrating thing.
