Up to: Biker's CafeThis should be a good place for all purpose talks, better than interleaving our discussions with "Time Trial Champions" comments.
Champ | Bike or Die ReminiscingIt has been 6 years since I have started playing Bike or Die. I would not have made it throughout these years without the aid of this game. It has supplied me with both hope and love. We have been through many trials together. Whenever I was waiting for a movie to start in a movie theater, I'd whip out my Treo 680. Whenever I had to wait to be picked up from school, Bike or Die was there. It's through these experiences that I realize how special Bike or Die is to me.
Not only was it the game that got me through those years, but also the players. Kris, Xuzz, Brian, PMD, Bones, etc. Everyone in the Bike or Die community has been great. Not to mention, the world's greatest developer, Sz.
However, all good things come to an end. I'd like to send this message out to state my departure. Goodbye. I will never see you again. The years have been good, but I must move on. I'm moving on to bigger and better things. Goodbye, life. You have been replaced by my new Palm Treo and Bike or Die 2.0.
I'm back. As soon as I can somehow get the full version of Bike or Die (the purchasing website is down and I'm unable to get a hold of Sz), I will be up and running in the TTC.
Cheers!

| | | I'd better be in that "etc." At least Vega didn't make the cut. |
| Champ
| | | Trust me, you are in the etc. Nor did Mike, Ibananez, Lee... the list goes on. There are too many amazing players to list. I have missed you all. |

| | | Like you Champ Bike or Die has supplied me with many years of entertainment. I can't tell you how many times I have played while waiting for a doctor, dentist, ortho, kid sports practice to be over, etc... Over 6 1/2 years. That is crazy when I think about it.
What a great community too. I've never met any of you, but in a way I consider you my friends.
Here's a screen shot of my Treo 650 that I long ago stopped using as a phone, but still carried around with me up until recently so I could play when there was a spare moment:
Aside from the well worn buttons with the paint worn off, I have played 905,866 games. Wow!
I've tried to play with my iPhone, but so far I haven't been able to beat any of my times. I suspect if I keep at it, I might get there and BikerBrian you might have some new competition.
Anyway, I'd also like to thank everyone on the community here that has made playing this game so enjoyable and to SZ for making an incredible game in the first place. Best of luck to everyone in 2012!

| | | I was really excited to see this thread started. Welcome back, Champ, Laser, and PMD! Congrats Laser for making the etc list .
I miss the days when we would get on chat. I'm friends on FB with Kris, MF, Pickle, Alpha, and few others. Pickle and I found out that we live about an hour away from each other and have met several times (BTW, he knows how to spell and has perfect grammar).
I am about to celebrate 4 years on BoD. Since finding it, I haven't devoted my attention to any other video game. I was completely addicted from the start - at first, I just tried to beat my ghost... then I found the online community. When the iPhone first came out, I stayed with my Treo (Sprint) only so I could keep playing BoD, even though my wife and I really wanted iPhones. Once Sz created the iOS version, we switched to AT& T. There was definitely a learning curve, but now I am better than I was with the 5-way controller. I found over the last several months that I could beat my ghost (and even got gold on several levels) after about 2,000 new tries per level.
PMD, that is a cool screenshot. I wish I knew how many tries I have now, but I've lost my stats several times and have played on numerous devices.
I look forward to the new competition! |

What does this mean? Does that mean that my gut feeling about Pickle from the beginning was right all along? That he was just messin with us? |

| | | Thanks, Brian, it really means a lot.
I've got a android phone now, and if BOD was on it, that's all I'd be playing. There's really no other game that gets me like this one does. |

| | | Your total number of games is impressive, PMD. Your worn out buttons remind me of my old Treo.
Thank you for the welcoming! It's good to see all of you again. It is somewhat saddening to see that 4175 hours (174 days) passed and no one has been in the chat room. We will have to change this. |
| Mr.pickle.
| | | I second the bit about the chat room, its been ages since we talked at 3AM champ ^~^
Hahaha Vega, let me see if I can explain...I was never intentionally spelling wrong in order to make you fellows upset at me. This was the first of many online communities I am now involved in. I started when I was 15 I believe and hadn't exactly learned how to properly carry on a conversation in text form. It has been nearly five years since then, I am now 19 years old and in college. Through lots of video games and other online communities I have been a part of, I can now type much faster and more efficiently than I can write with a pencil.
But there was never any type of tomfoolery going on such as me being Cirenco, Oliver, or some other player from the past and hiding my identity for the fun of it. You have simply watched a random teenage computer nerd/musical theater major get better at typing, haha |
| Mr.pickle.
| | | I wish I knew the total games I had played, I seem to remember having between 2-3 hundred thousand tries on my Zire and more like 5 hundred thousand on my Treo, but I don't know the exact numbers anymore....Pity..I am supposed to get a new phone I think in march, leaning towards an iPhone for the sole purpose of playing some more, but we shall see when the time comes |
| Champ
| | | Very true. We'll bring it back. You, Brian, and I are already moderately active in it so far.
I don't necessarily believe you on that one, Mr.pickle. I think that you're secretly Th-Champ in disguise. |
| Ibanez
| | | Good to see the old names still active here, I'm still lagging well behind at #45, maybe a new pack will bring a resurgence.
To echo ThChamp's words though there was a good few years there where BoD got me through all my spare time, and gave me plenty of thumb cramp too! Reading all your names brings a nostalgic feeling! |

| | | Despite being busy, I've dropped in to check on the forum practically every day, yet had nothing to say- Mostly because I've been having trouble running BoD since my update from jailbroken iOS 4.1 to iOS 5. Just today though, I decided to put all my effort into getting the beta version of iBoDesign to work on an unjailbroken iPhone, and that might just be enough to bring me back. |
| BikerBrian
| | | It's great to hear from you, Ibanez and TDG! We got my wife's iPhone 4 jailbroken last weekend. There currently isn't a non-tethered JB available for the i5 chip that is in my iPhone 4s . One of these days...
Welcome back! |
| SPiDeR
| | | The untethered jailbreak for the 4s came out a couple of days ago.

| | | I know that feel, Ibanez. I'm still at #27. I haven't had enough time to go back through all the levels. It takes a lot of time.. A new pack might. I still need to catch up on Spring Revival :p Although, I have been working on a few prototypes for levels. I was thinking about creating a pack called "2012." The theme is going to be destruction.
thedudeguy, I am the exact same. I always check in just to see how the TTC is going and to see who still plays. I wish you the best of luck with your iTouch/iPhone. We could use all the players we can get in the race. |
| Xuzz
| | | Ha, so something awesome: that site that SPiDeR linked to was (until about a week or so ago) run by me.
I haven't played Bike or Die for... probably almost a year now. Maybe I'll start again sometime, who knows. Still occasionally check the site for new posts, though. |

| | | Ha, this game. It was the most epic competition I've ever been in, filled with determination, strategy, drama, and diplomacy, complete with a good set of friends. I was new to the Internet and to software development (now my career) when I started playing this game, so it's a fairly important and memorable part of my past.
I miss this smiley:
I think at some point I said I'd get my comeback in five years after everyone else became exhausted with the game. Turns out, five years isn't a very long time (I think it's been almost 4 years since I was seriously competing), but at the same time, my interests have changed quite a bit since then. I don't think I'll ever be able to play another game as seriously as I played this one. (That's a compliment. ) My T3 is still a good alarm clock though, haha.
Want to try to meetup on chat? Say maybe Sunday, April 8th, at 9PM PST? (Apologies to the people on the other continents.) |
| Mr.pickle.
| | | I am curious as to how many people will show up for that.... |
| Laser
| | | I've got an exam the next day, so probably not. Can we make this a lot earlier? |
