Time Trial

OK, this idea is pretty extreme, but I think it might work.

At the moment, the best times are first come first serve, and some of the old players still hold golds, when they don't even play anymore (rachman! on Bottle for instance), so what if your games time out after say 3 months and they don't count in the HoF anymore? It would keep the people who still play in the top positions, and after someone stops, they would be gone from the competition after 3 months. You probably won't like this cos it's a big change, but hey... worth some discussion.

But I wonder if 'secrecy' could have a time limit? So if you want to keep the gold secret beyond whatever the period is, you have to beat your own time – anyone?

No. I am really never for changes that favor leveling the playing field. Let the competition be what it is: a fierce competition. The submitting biker must be able to manage whether or not the game is secret... with no time limit.

I don't like leveling the playing field either - it's like handicaps in golf! I though the limit on secrecy was an interesting twist, but never going to happen...and little point really.

No, but the lower skilled players will not complete as many as the higher skilled players anyway, so it would still not be too different.

Looking critically at my own idea (

) I think it would penalise players who don't play a lot or have limits set upon them by their evil parents

I personally believe that the main contributor to my current skill (and golds) is the fact that top games are kept secret.
I was forced to think laterally, instead of being spoonfed the "correct" route for each level.
You'll have a different kind of competition if secrecy goes. Every player who can manage a route will be at the top, and creativity will be unrewarded.

I actully,after thinin for a few days,think that maby a variation of pinerds idea could work,but instead of games "timing out"after 3 months,what if all a players games "timed out"after 1 yeear of no new games,as in if they dont submit a game for 1 year then they basicly dont exist on bod any more...
thats basicly the only way I think pi nerds idea would have any afect,and I still personally dont evan like my own variation much
