| | | In that case, I guess I'm sorry for not reading your post before I went and took it back.
My philosophy is a little bit different than yours, I guess.
My interest in golds stemmed from the fact that as of last year I was well over 1000 points behind 4th place, and I really didn't think I'd ever make it closer (I guess I was a little wrong there).
Most of my golds are from levels that I really enjoy playing, and I take from the players that I don't think miss the golds (Cirenco, Louis, Kris, Tabs). The others were just in the process of getting at least one gold in each pack (like Antiworld in New Deal).
Oh, and besides a couple of accidentals, I try not take away from Canada, i.e. Mike.
That's my philosophy nowadays- I play for fun, I play what I like playing. I'll even play a non-hof level if it's enjoyable enough. With this philosophy I've improved quite a bit, as you can see.
But then again, Pickle agrees with you, and if he's wrong, then unfortunately so are you. In THAT case, you can disregard this message.

12 weeks is when it starts. Just because something happened once doesnt mean it happens all the time. You keep taking rare events and state them as fact for the majority of cases. There is no 6-8 weeks. Stop being dumb.
A pregnancy occurs because a sperm fertilizes an egg. God does not make a sperm do this. This occurs because that is how humans are designed. A fundamental concept in the religions stemming from the old testament is that god put us all on earth yet we have the FREE WILL to make choices that we choose. Therefore God may want the child to live according to you but the pregnancy did not occur for any reason other than the fact that the egg was fertilize and that isn't God's doing. You are coming awfully close to saying you don't believe people have freedom to make their own choices which is definitely not part of your religion.
Global warming - You are just so dense. Lee can you try and convince him. Its like talking to a baby at 11 weeks, they have no brain waves and can't comprehend anything.

| | | I agree that the rank given isn't really the real rank. So I fixed my program to calculate the real rank based on the points. So if you are tied for first in shelf (even though your rank says #37) you still get a 'real rank' of 1. Recalculated the worst 'real ranks':
Mike: 15 (Twin Peaks)
Kris: 36 (Red Murder)
PMD: 26 (Castle)
Shane: 31 (Fruits)
Laser: 35 (Clay Serpent)
Cirenco: 49 (Riding School Part 2)
Henoch: 46 (Big Cheese)
Casey: 52 (Tatra)
Lee: 89 (Sinus Mountains)
Bones: 66 (Fruits)
Vega: 6 (Red Murder, Hank Chill, Me vs Gravity)
Pickle: 372 (Downhill Madness)
Cody: 190 (U Jump)
Spencer: 105 (Pipe Universe)
Tabs: 532 (U Jump)
DavidKing: 24 (Cave Dweller)
The numbers are a bit off after a couple hundred, but this should be a lot more meaningful.

Pickle... Although Kris has made some good levels in the past, I was talking about Kris making a voting system website, not a level.
You were not around for OS/NG voting, so I understand why you would not know what I meant.
As for endless level tweaking, I love it. The only problem I see with it is that it takes a lot of time and effort with no $$.
I was pretty much lambasted by my family when they found out how much time I actually spent on my levels (and those 2 packs) without pay.
And in reality, that's fair. I simply don't have the time to give BoD what it needs.
The thing about level tweaking is that no matter how "perfect" you make a level, there will always be fierce competition, and oddball routes.
I think the HoF deserves great levels that are very well made. This is what I mean by testing/tweaking.
I think it's very important, as evidenced by several "runaways" that have slipped through the cracks. We have enough of those already.

| | | Pickle, it's crazy how the forum will be dead for weeks or months and then several pages of posts in 2 days... you have to stay on your toes.
Here are some more interesting statistics showing the percentage of games in the Top 3 and Top 10 (real rank) for the Top 5 in TTC, along with the worst level per person.
Mike - Top3: 45%, Top10: 84%, hasn't completed all levels
Brian - Top3: 20%, Top10: 84%, 87 pts (100 Yd Dash)
Laser - Top3: 26%, Top10: 71%, 75 pts (Sixpack Squared)
Tyler - Top3: 23%, Top10: 68%, 71 pts (Underground)
PMD - Top3: 15%, Top10: 73%, 79 pts (Braking School)
These values were derived from the statistics provided by casey . They show the difference in strategy that PMD and I have used. We have more of our levels in the Top 10, while Mike, Laser, and Tyler have more in the Top 3.
The only downside to my strategy is that it requires me to play levels that I don't enjoy.

| | | It is such an honor just to be nominated in the "Best Comment of the Year" category. I would like to start by thanking the Academy (of Digital Biking) for this award. I would like to thank Sz for creating such a wonderful tool for making time fly . Thank you to everyone on the forum - you have taken me in like a long lost brother. I would also like to thank Bones and others for their kind words.
I can't thank my wife enough for being by my side all these years and supporting me in my endeavors. My teenage kids have definelty contributed to my ability to be sarcastic. I can't forget my parents, who are here tonight, for not slapping me every time I smarted off as a teenager.
I would like to thank "Alpha" for his support and encouragement. He's one of the few people (besides you guys) who are truly interested when I improve my time on a level.
I would like to dedicate this award to everyone who has seen the downside of disadvantage (by not being able to beat CMR, Die or Die, and Dantes).
Bike or Die is just a game, folks, but hopefully it will help us open our hearts ... to believe that something extraordinary can always happen in our lives.
It is incredible to think that I'm now tied with Mr. Pickle for the number of medals we each hold ;D

| | | Pickle, speak for yourself about who Spence owns . Spence would probably win if there was a medal awarded for efficiency, but the last time I checked, Hall of Fame points are not awarded for "points/try". As I've mentioned several times, I am not concerned about my total number of tries. My concern is to beat my ghost and earn more points. If I realize that isn't going to happen on a particular run, I hit reset. I start over a lot simply because I didn't get a perfect start.
As of 10:30 am EST, I have 186,578 tries.
It isn't my fault that you've been slacking. Let me remind you of a comment you posted on June 17, 2008. And I quote: "alot of talk but lets see how well you hold up when we get that far [you were referring to the Top 10], its summer now, and I dont have school, so I can literally play all day,you on the other hand are an adult, and still have a job."
I would say I've held my own over the summer. It must be depressing to you that you've actually lost ground during a time you can "literally play all day." The gap between you and me is now the largest it has ever been (1230 points) and is even larger than the gap between me and 9th place (1150 points) .

| | | I just hit 16,000 points today. Since this was a personal milestone for me, I decided to take a look back at my humble beginnings. Here is a bit of useless trivia:
Back in January (when I started playing), I was averaging 300 pts/day. During February and March, I was averaging 100-200 pts/day. In April, May, and June, I averaged 50-100 pts/day. Over the summer, I have averaged about 10 pts/day. (It looks like I may need to start keeping track of pts/week )
The obvious reason for the decline in pts/day is that the higher you get in the ranks, the harder it is to find points. In addition, over the summer (after pulling ahead of Pickle), I decided to work on medals instead of points.
I have earned about 800 points since entering the Top 10 at the end of June. I still have around 500 more to go before passing Cirenco for 9th place.
As I climbed pages 10 ranks at a time, it was mentally challenging when I hit pages that took 1,000 points to pass. That's nothing compared to the top page - there are over 5,000 points separating 1st and 10th places. Oh well, one pedal stroke at a time...

| | | Hold the Presses! Wet blanket alert...
Let me start by saying that I was very excited this morning when I logged onto the BoD site while at Starbucks (using my iPod Touch) to learn that a new pack was available. I downloaded it onto my Palm and have been playing it for the past 3 hrs. Now that I have completed all levels, I will offer my comments.
1. Ice Cave - Somewhat unimpressive to me (sorry Bones). I don't understand why this would be in a HoF pack with so many other really nice levels out there. The middle section on the way up will not be "easy" for iPhone players.
2. LaserTag - cool level. It will take some time to learn where the flags are to get a fast time.
3. Everest - fun beginning, but has a learning curve. As much as I like this level, I would definitely not call it an easy level for new players. I predict that most new players (the ones that are giving bad comments at the app store) will get stuck at Lasertag and Everest.
4. Fenway - my favorite level in the pack.
5.Claustrophobia - this one is o.k I guess, but it doesn't inspire me to want to play it again. It took me 25 tries to beat it. My time is 1:48, since I was constantly zooming out to find the next flag.
6. Haunted - this level is horrible (sorry Kris ) I understand that the weird portals are what makes it haunted, but it was the opposite of fun for me.
7. Bananas - cool new version. The jump over the the 5th flag near the bomb is tricky, but I'm o.k. with this one.
8. Planet - nice use of gravity, but the ending is pretty hard. Xuzz/Mike, your argument for changing Pickle's level was that noone wants to play for a minute and then have a tricky ending. You need to revisit this one then. It will take the average player 45 secs to get the final drop (new players will take longer). The gravity down into the hole is really strong and it is hard to slow down.
9. Where am I? - interesting. I'm fine with this one.
10. Icecap Run - I gave this level lots of praise when PiNerd released it. However, I don't like the easy ending. I liked it better the way it was.
11. Artistic - fine with me.
12. Bounce That - fun, but definitely not easy.
13. The Climb - The ending was pretty easy. I beat this level in 10 tries. Of course, I've played varies verions of this over the past year.
14. Inspired - it took me 21 tries to beat it, but the move required to get to the upper right is hard.
General Comments:
As excited as I am to have a new pack, I'm not sure this one should be posted as is. I understand that the bigger the committee, the longer it takes to get something done, but I'm a bit offended by the tone that Xuzz/Mike have taken with this pack. I'm not necessarily defending Pickle here, but Xuzz has taken the position that he is the level god. I agree with PMD that Sz (or voting) should decide.
Now that said my peace, I will play this pack if it is released, I just don't anticipate having as much fun as I did with other packs (BF for example). Also, please don't bill this as an "easy pack for iPhone players". If you are looking for fun and somewhat easy levels for iPhone players, look no further than "20's Redeux" 20's ReDeux created by Bg . This pack is FUN to play!
Either way, thanks Mike and Xuzz for getting the ball rolling. I'll keep playing it... maybe it will grow on me. You know I love you guys! .

Kris: 43 (Equisplateral)
PMD: 37 (Shelf)
Shane: 34 (Fruits)
Laser: 109 (Bottle)
Cirenco:144 (Riding School Part 2)
Henoch: 69 (Downhill Madness)
Casey: 58 (Downhill Madness)
Lee: 137 (Riding School Part 2)
Bones: 77 (The Right Way)

Cody: 238 (U Jump)
Spencer:112 (SinkInToDrinks)

DavidKing: 24 (Cave Dweller)
Looks like Downhill Madness is the winner for the level that lots of us have issues with, also Shelf and RSP2. Probably because they are all 'bottle' type levels where even if you are only a few frames behind the gold, you drop down quite a few ranks.

| New Idea Compilation | mike flips
| | | 19) I suggested this to BB earlier today. Its not a bad idea.
The golden club shows which players have "dominated" the game if you look around the top 25 or so. Nearly all the players have been "big" in the game and have contributed a lot. But the rest of the golden club ranks realy just dont give any "real" meaning because a lot of people got golds a long time ago and were never that great but managed to rack up a few points here and there.
To make the golden club have a bit more meaning for newer players who want to see how they stack up against current players, i was thinking of maybe adding a filter to the golden club. That way players can view golden club in a few different ways. For example:
"Golden Club in the last 3 months"
"Golden Club in the last 2 years"
This would give players a better perspective on their "dominance" of the game on a more relevant scale.
I know the point is that its more of a "hall of fame" but it would be nice for people who have only a few medals and want to see how well they have done compared to other people around their rank (aka Pickle vs BB or for those who have a few more golds, Laser vs Vega)
Anywho, just an idea

| | | Hey BikerBrian, it's all about finding the right balance.
For my personal happiness, I need a balance of all those things that you mentioned, but I also need a little sliver that is something for myself.
That sliver has become less for me over the past year (as you can see from my drop from 2nd to 4th). I made the adjustment last year just as you are doing now.
When I look at what I do on a daily basis, there is still some time for the fun, competition, and community of BoD--sitting in the waiting room at the dentist office, waiting for my daughter to finish up her tennis lesson, sitting on the toilet (too much information I know), etc...
I have personally just adjusted my playing time and sure I have lost a couple of rankings, but I still am enjoying a game that I like to play and I think it contributes to my overall happiness. My happiness also impacts my relationship to work, wife, kids, church, etc... in a positive way.
I am certain that the times I do play, I would otherwise not be doing anything else that would be an accomplishment as you say. You just need to pick the right times for playing.
Anyway, sorry for the discourse. Take it for what it's worth. That is just my experience. If you do decide to hang up your Palm, it's been nice watching you move up the ranks and banter with Pickle. Certainly, make sure to be back to visit every so often.
