Comments From iPhone4 Owners

So I was gonna ask people individually, but then I figured it might be cooler to just open this up to everyone. There's a gob of info out there on the iPhone4. But I wanted to hear (well... read actually ) what my fellow bikers have to say about it. This would be useful for anyone who reads the thread, not just me of course.

So let's hear it folks, if you have the new iPhone4...

What do you like about it?

What do you not like about it?

How do you like playing BoD on it?

Good concept, too locked down for me (not to mention the antenna)
I'm getting a Samsung Captivate. The most powerful phone ever made

Oh and I'd probably break the glass on it. A phone that requires a bumper to function properly is a phone with a bumper. All apple aesthetics go away when you rim it with rubber.

Spence - are you an iPhone4 owner? huh??

haha. j/k man.

Nope, just thought I'd say why not

btw... no led flash on the captivate. that's lame-o.

I love my iPhone4. I have played with several android models and nothing comes close to the touch screen look and feel of the iPhone. Another plus for the iPhone is that BoD works and plays beautifully on it.

Regarding being locked down, I had my 3Gs jailbroken and could do all sorts of cool things with it. I'm sure someone will figure out how to unlock the iPhone4 soon.

As for the Captivate, no flash (as Vega mentioned) and no WiFi tethering. It also appears that it is an ATT phone. The only reason to be with ATT is the iPhone. Otherwise, Verison seems to be the best. Plus, the Captivate has the same antenna issue (maybe worse) by holding it in the right hand...

I would have an iPhone I suppose if I was with ATT, but as I have Verizon, and couldn't afford the Droid, I bought the new Palm Pre. I have a 2nd gen iTouch, and as far as I can tell the touchscreen works about as well on both. The only things I can criticize about the Palm Pre is that there aren't enough apps(obviously no bike or die) and the battery life will not last through the entire day unless it charges completely the night before. I have yet for it to run out halfway through the day as some of the reviews suggested, and I do quite a bit of texting(us teenagers do that you know).

Also using some downloaded apps off of precentral.net I am able to alter some things on the phone to make it a bit more customizable, things like having the exact percentage of battery life displayed instead of the battery symbol halfway full and such. The camera is excellent and there is an app that allows you to use the LED flash as a normal flashlight. And my favorite feature of the phone, is that it can make it has free mobile hotspot capability meaning I can use my phone to make a wifi signal which I can connect my laptop to if I do so desire. We tried it loading the same site with both my home internet and the phones wifi, and the wifi was actually faster than the high-speed internet by about 3 seconds. If you are going verizon, obviously the Droid is a better phone, but the Palm Pre gets close in my opinion for ALOT cheaper. Also the mobile hotspot feature costs 15 extra dollers a month for iPhone 4 I believe, and a good bit for the Droid as well, as far as I can tell, the Pre is the only phone on the market to offer the feature for free.

Also, random fact here Both Apple, Google, RIM(makers of blackberry) all reportedly bid on the Palm system before it was sold to HP, Apple wants the large library of patents that Palm holds I imagine, considering Palm was a leading pioneer of this whole enterprise, with the origenal Palm Pilot.

Now that HP has Palm secured, they are postponing many phones that were supposed to be using the Android or Windows Mobile systems, and instead are producing more phones running on Web OS, as well as regular PDA's and tablets.

so... do you own an iphone4, pickle?

Ah, Ok - you're talking about the new iphone, and the Palm Pre snuck in.

Palm Pre...

I was given one.

Free

I love Palm gear (historically speaking). I still play BOD on a T3 (can't get used to it on my iphone - no clicky buttons!).

The Pre feels like it's made out of (unwashed) crisp packets. It has the same hardware specs as the iphone - but due to it not even using the inbuilt graphics acceleration, it operates at about 5 fps as soon as your finger touches the screen - laggy as f..k.

It has no polish, style or desirability (imho). Yes it's new and will get better (?).

It is at the moment, so totally crap it's not even a joke. People pay real money for these?

My ipod touch (and T3), make it look like a Sinclair C5 next to a BMW M3.

Oh, and memory leaks (like a colander), 3 minutes to boot etc, etc.

Apart from that it's really nice ('cept it isn't)

@Brian Well I got it and I have to say its amazing. I don't need flash as I'm a bit of a flashlight nut . WiFi tethering which I don't need, will come with android 2.2, which i'll hack onto there as soon as possible. As for ATT, The captivate is really the Galaxy S. Every major carrier is getting one including Verizon.
PS, I'm left handed.
Mr.pickle.
Well fine then andrew, just go and burst my bubble I like it anyhow, haha but I am easilly satisphied.
