Are the best days of the competition over?

I sense a long conversation coming from recent discussion under the Supernatural level pack page, so I have started a new thread.

Vega:
-> You haven't submitted in like 12 years.
-> It's quite obvious that you have an evil plan in OS.
-> But I have perfected another level there and I'm very close to submitting a wicked score.
-> So you had better speed things up with your plan.

Me:
-> I haven't made much progress in the last month.
-> I just found out my school has WiFi, so I'll be playing even less.

It started as a planned massive submit, but I really haven't been successful at the game lately.
Because of this and school, I have been playing even less.
I had 13 of the 15 records in Old School before Vega started playing them again; now I have maybe 10.
Those are my only un-submitted medals.
I figure since I am not doing so well at this game, and there are other competitions, there isn't much reason to continue attempting the #1 spot.
Cirenco probably left for the same reasons.
It seems like a lot of other players are playing less now, too.
We have reached a stalemate anyway, or at least, the results are predictable whether I keep competing aggressively or not.
So, why keep trying?
I'll probably keep playing until all my hardware fails, but I'm not focused on the competition anymore.
Being #2 is quite good considering I just wanted to be in the Top 50, and then the Top 10.

I use the Zoom-out option on my T3, but not on my main Palm.

I can only use it on my mom's palm, and I berely ever play on hers.

Don't worry Vega, the zoom out feature may help in "learning" the levels but I find that faster times still come with the regular zoom because you have more control. I rarely zoom out (probably because i keep forgetting I can for a few months at a time).

The zoom is great, especially for new levels and watching replays (the little bike is sooooo cute

But like Mike said, it won’t get you fast times. I think my only ‘zoomed out’ PB was on ‘Triangles’, but that level is, erm, unique

I only use the zoom out on levels with really big jumps that you need to get ready for the landing. Otherwise I like the control of being zoomed in. Sometimes I try the zoomed out version a few times until I have the overall feel for the level and then I zoom back in for more control.

I downloaded the latest version and played a little last night. I agree with all of your comments. It has the potential to be a great help on certain levels (triangle is a great example Shane) and levels with a big jump, but I'll have to play it more to decide whether or not I will use the zoomed out mode as my default play..... not sure yet. At any rate, I have a lot of fun new features to play around with too!

I can't believe we've gone so long without a new pack- I've been waiting so long to come back.
However, even if a new pack was put out right now, I couldn't even play since my charger broke and my whole palm is out of commission for another 3-4 weeks before I get it replaced.
Still, party on guys, and I'll be waiting!

I was online this afternoon and noticed that there was 1 user on chat. Guess what... it was Cirenco! We had a long chat. He said he just got a new Palm and has beat the rest of the levels. He's now in the process of saving up levels to get all his golds back.

Pretty big news. However, this is not a surprise. Cirenco has a LOT of work to do before he will be able to reclaim all of his golds though. Most of his previous golds have been murdered. It takes a very long time to get even a dozen tough golds back. He's lost several dozen, and counting

the interesting part about comments on the past-masters like Cirenco not necessarily being faster, is that I don't think you guys realise just how much easier the game is to play, with better frame rates and zoom features associated with the later versions.
If one of these guys that used to kick my but clean back into the 20-30 place mark comes back, you should respect them, and anticipate some exciting times and new routes is all I'm saying.
