A lot of room for improvement here, but seeing as the level is so long, optimizing more than this is going to be incredibly hard..

Really lovely run - looks pretty optimized to me!

Will be a while before I get round to this level again, and I sincerely doubt I will ever want to work hard enough to even get close

BB on the other hand...

Great job! I've known for a long time that this level could go faster. My lower right portion wasn't very good.

To be honest, I haven't played BoD for quite a while. And it's been about 6 years since I played Cave Dweller. Since this was one of my prized golds, your run may be enough to get me out of retirement...

Hang on... did I read correctly?

BB retired from BoD! Shurely shome mishtake...

Would this be like all those other times you've 'retired' BB?

In this case - probably back before we even noticed you'd gone, it would seem!

Seriously though, it would be a sad day in the BoD world if you did stop playing - you have been the constant. Understandable however, given the state of the game now.

I'm glad I can inspire you to be dragged down to our level again (^_^)y seriously though.. this level can probably get close to a low 1:40 if properly optimized, so I hope to get some competition here

Don't worry, I'll be around as long as BoD is.

I have spent lots of time gaming over the years, dating back to the Commodore 64 and Atari. However, I'm certain that I've logged more hours on BoD since I found it than all of the others combined.

Andrew, you are correct that I've "retired" a couple of times... mostly because I was spending too much time with BoD and not enough with other areas of my life.

Plus, the competition wained for awhile. However, you guys have really stepped up your game and competition. Thanks for that!

As for this level, I have the bottom portion learned again. Now for that pesky cablecar on the top right portion of the map.

I "optimized" quite a bit on this level, and there was a time when my 1:56.98 run was gold by a nice margin back in 2007. I always knew 1:52 or so was possible. In fact, I believe I made some comment years ago somewhere in the forum that 1:52.xx would be a nearly perfect run of this map. I watched this new gold from Kamirashi 3 times and I see very little room for improvement here. Almost every aspect of this was executed with precision. On a long map like this, there's ALWAYS more room. Maybe 1:49.xx is possible, but it is reasonably achievable without spending your entire life away??... not too sure. For now, this is a supremely stellar run of Cave Dweller. Nice one Kamirashi.

I've previously gotten up the first "rail" about 3 seconds faster, the grab onto the second rail on the top left with a good turnaround at the end can save about 2 more seconds, a more optimized jump onto the top of the final rail can get at least a second faster, and I was really cautious at the ending, can probably save 2-3 seconds there as well.. In all I think a perfect run should be about 8-9 seconds faster than this, but as you say, that run would take a lifetimes worth of attempts to get ^^
