If you get super duper techincal and analyze every frame (exaggeration of course, but you get the idea), the only spot in his whole run where I see any point that even resembles an an opportunity to move past him would be at the 9 second mark where his back tire is off the ground for a split second. If you gripped the ground in the same way he did at red flag #1, and planted your tire on the ground after the bump, you might (MIGHT!!) be able to gain about half a bike length on him. But if you did all that just right, you would need to keep pace for the rest of the way and complete the second half in perfect (yes Mike) **perfect** execution and then and only then would you be able to maybe edge him out at the flag at about 26.20 or 26.30 (MAYBE!!!!)
If anyone does what I have just described... hats off to you for sure. Until then, Champ is the new king of this level.

This gives me an idea:

You could run BoD in the Palm simulator and then send key presses to it using your own software (I could write this). It would allow us to perfectly hone a gold time. This is the main weakness with and game, and is similar to the weaknessed of DRM. Sorry.

I may write this software as a programming exercise but i will not use it/release it as it would break the game.

Actually, even if Sz disables it in the Simulator, there is some software that uses your computer to control your palm. Or someone could crack the BoD recording format and slightly modify TH-Champ's game to be slightly more perfect.

Of course all of this is big-time cheating and would ruin the entire game
Sz
yeah, i hope noone wants to spoil the fun otherwise we would have to to organize the real world BoD meetings so the champions can prove they are really playing the game without cheating

of course cracking the game is the ultimate cheat (which can only be delayed by obfuscating the code and releasing new versions faster than the cheaters can decode them ), external additions like automated keypress replay could be probably defeated by adding some amount of randomness into the game (so it is no longer 100% predictable).

I like the predictability. You just need to keep a ban option handy so you can ban any (discovered) cheaters. I hope that nobody does, though.

Another idea: How about random portals: sometimes takes you to A, other times to B, and occasionally to C?

wait, no more ideas. NEED THAT BOD2!!!
Cody
I don't think so Xuzz, I'm pretty sure most people would be against antyhing that implements luck into the game.

What i really meant is that the first time, go to A, then B, then C so you can go in three times, but have to get back to the beginning to get the flags.

You might have forgot, but I found out how to edit recording files in a hex editor. (  Playing with Hacks )
Needless to say, evolution is thoroughly impractical there.

With key-press simulation (which I have done before with the WinAPI, BTW ), random changes in the key presses won't typically help.
Also, the Palm Sim might not get a smooth 50FPS, so the lag will add some randomness.
But last I checked, the Palm Sim didn't output real PDB or PRC files; this was a problem when I briefly tried to make levels in the Palm Sim.

An easier way for keypress is AutoIt3, you could POSSIBLY make a "PerfectBoD" bot to do the perfect run in the PalmSim...and it does output fine PDB/PRCs, you just need to install HostFS.prc and move them to a virtaul "card".

How how does this have to do with Th-Champ on Riding School
