Look... I didn't mean to start a big fight. Everybody just calm down, okay?

Who's Mel Gibson?

So what's the deal with airline food?

How about we all talk about how much we love Justin Beiber?
Mr.pickle.
Darn kids..

Anyone see that new Twilight movie?
thedudeguy
No, but how about we discuss the possibility of the worlds worst musical... the cast of twilight singing justin beiber songs
Mr.pickle.
Havnt seen the new one, but the first twighlight was one of the best comedy's I have ever seen! I loved how they pretended to be the worlds worst actors!

It WAS supposed to be a comedy right?

Hmm...
Facebook vs. Google?

I love controversial topics. Time for me to weigh in.

First of all, the iPhone4 dominates all other smartphones on the market, especially the Evo 4G and the Incredible. The iPhone4 antenna is awesome!

Mel Gibson is almost as awesome as the iPhone4.

When I take my shirt off, I get mistaken for Taylor Lautner all the time. It is starting to get on my nerves.

Who is Justin Beiber?

It would be interesting if Google bought out FB... it could be called "GooFace".

iPhone4 may be awesome, but Steve Jobs gets a solid F for P.R. abilities. A simple apology and 'real' effort to address people's concerns would have been far more professional.

Something like...

"We really put everything we could into making this the best phone available, and we're very sorry about this apparent hardware issue. After analyzing the cost that Apple would incur if we did a massive recall, we have concluded that it would be extremely damaging to Apple's bottom line. In order to make certain we keep our customers as happy as we can, we are gladly offering a free case, which has been shown to eliminate the problem. We truly hope our efforts to help correct this is viewed favorably by our valuable customers."

See? That took me about 2 minutes to type out. That's a leader's response. That's a response that people can feel good about. Not the crap Jobs has been giving everyone since this happened. (Obviously I am a little bitter about this... I need to eat a spoon of honey to sweeten up)

Google buying Facebook? Wouldn't that be almost like a monopoly on the internet. Google/Youtube/Facebook. Sheesh.

Vega, it sounds like you are a few days behind on Apple news. I thought Jobs' press conference on Friday was right on. He addressed the issue head on, explained why they waited 3 weeks, and offered free cases to everyone. If people don't like their iPhone4 (even after the free case), they can return it for a full refund. Plus, he demonstrated how other popular smart phones have the same issue, but no one has made a big deal out of them.

I have never dropped a call because of the antenna. I just downloaded the updated software today. The explanation makes perfect sense to me now. When I am in an area with a strong signal, holding it by the death grip doesn't even drop one bar. The issue was when there is a weak signal, but it showed 4-5 bars anyway. That is when it appeared that the signal dropped to 1 bar.

Here is Jobs' press conference: http://events.apple.c om.edgesuite.net/1007 16iab73asc/event/index.html

After watching the press conference, I took the case of my original iPhone and gave it the "death grip". It dropped 2 bars.

I know about the conference bud. Free case is cool and everything, but I still don't think he was very apologetic. It seemed like he was just up there talking with an attitude. Plus his initial response was insanely ridiculous. I just don't buy it. I think Apple's response to this whole situation has been quite lacking. That's all I'm saying.

As for Mel, I'm not sure what to think. It's hard to imagine that he could have any type of explanation or good reason to act that way. The stuff he said on those calls was way over the top. Hopefully the real truth will come out that the recordings were pieced together from some movie script that he was doing that never made it to production. Or maybe he will claim that he was possessed by demons and has been under spiritual attack since making The Passion. I dunno. But at this point, even without knowing all the facts, it's really difficult to hold any sort of admiration for the guy. What a shame.

Based on Spider's post, I grabbed my boss' iphone 3Gs and wrapped my hands around it. It dropped from 5 bars to 1! It's interesting that it was never made into a story until iphone4.

I always knew you were on Team Jacob, Brian.

Guys the problem with the iPhone 4 isn't that signal is lost during a death grip, its that if you put just one finger on a certain spot you could lose all signal. If you live in an area with strong signal however you may not even notice. Many people have scientifically tested the iPhone against competing phones and confirmed the problem.

Also a few companies called BS on apple saying it happens to other phones though. http://gizmodo.com/5589639/rim-and-nokia-respond-to-apples-antennagate-press-conference
