Potentially Major Treo problem!!!

Ahhh! Don't know what's happening! I can't hotsync to my desktop pc anymore. It starts by saying "identifying user" then immediately moves on to "synchronizing media" and totally freezes. The weird thing is that my Treo freezes (needs to be reset) AND my desktop hotsync app freezes and I have to C+Alt+Delete and End task the program. Also, my entire media library is gone on my treo. I had about 40 pics or so and they are erased. The camera is not working either (can view screen in camera mode but when I click to take a pic, nothing happens) If I try to record video, a message pops up on my treo saying "Cannot encode video).

What do I do? Is there way to get my treo info and everything uploaded on the computer other than hotsync? Is there a way to submit BoD games other than hotsync?

Let me know asap!!! Thanks everyone

After much trial and error, I was able to go into the setup manager and change the setting for media hotsync to "Do nothing" so now it ignores the media. Good news is it still hotsyncs well...... bummer news is that my media pics are gone and broken. Any info on what may have happened would be great if someone thinks they know. Thanks!

I'm not sure, but you can avoid the problem by using SD cards and card readers for your media. I have 2 2GB SD cards in my Tapwave Zodiac, so I don't bother with the 32MB internal memory.

Good idea. I will likely need to get a card then to see if I can make it work that way. Not only has my media dissappeared, but now my internal memory is no longer re-writeable. I cannot save any more games (or anything for that matter) and several other applications are not working properly. I'll get a card and see if I can run everything from there. I'll keep you posted..... if it doesn't work, I may not be able to play for a little while

-> Is there a way to submit BoD games other than hotsync?

Yes, click the "Submit" link at the top of this page. I hope everyone found the Javasync by now, and Treos can submit using their built-in Internet connection.

Sorry about your Treo, but I think I will stop competing for awhile, too. I didn't get any Golds this week, so I am making levels again.

-> Now my internal memory is no longer re-writeable.

If that happened, then Bike or Die would not be able to save any recordings or stats. If that happened, and resets will not work, then I think you will need a new Treo.

No warrenty Vega?

Its funny cuz i havent played in a while too. School finished and i thought with all this free time i would play a lot, but i havent really played much at all

You might not have to get a new one, but for what it's worth, they are only about $100 on Ebay, since you already have the phone service and charger.

Well let's allow this to be a lesson to all. I, infact, do not have to get a new one. Incase anyone is not aware of this (as I was not) the Treo 650 does not give a warning message when the memory space is at the limit. I deleted several game applications that I haven't used in months and everything has returned to normal working order. I guess I had just reached capacity and it just gave up on trying to do anything that requires memory. I must say this is pretty dissapointing and very unintelligent on the part of the creators at Palm that there is no better system in place for communication to the owner (me) that this could happen. I mean....c'mon ya know....that's like caveman technology to put a simple warning message. I seriously was gonna get a new one. Ridiculous.

At any rate, NOW I know and so do all of you. So don't get too excited that Vega may be out of commission for while False Alarm Thanks for your help Kris!

That's odd; your individual programs should have said, "cannot start because there is not enough memory" before it stopped the Hotsync. Maybe you were trying to add several pictures or programs through Hotsync.
Vega
Nope. Wasn't adding anything at all. The only thing I did was save a few BoD recordings (like 3 or something) since the last time I had hotsync'd. Then when I hotsync'd, it froze at the media part and caused me to need to reset each time I tried to hotsync and everything went funky on me. Also, my albums were coming up blank, so I assumed I had lost all my pics, but they are all there again now. All of my BoD levels and recordings (about 400 saved recordings)added together are consuming 4MB on my Treo right now. Yesterday I deleted over 6MB worth of programs and pictures that I don't need anymore, so I should be good to go for a long time

That's why i put all of my recordings and levels in my MMC card not on the treo with a risk of slow start to play BoD.
Kristopher
Bike or Die shouldn't slow the Hotsync too badly; my Hotsync only takes about 5 minutes, even though I have many recordings.
