Vega | | | Sz has a real winner of a game in BoD. It's prime for a rocket liftoff, but it needs more accessibility. BoD is so unique. xMoto is a great game. It really is. I have completed over 500 levels and have over 300 medals. (different scoring method) But the BoD website is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than xMoto. The community and player identity in BoD destroys that of xMoto as well. If Sz would pore all of his creative energy and focus into BoD, it would be a huge success. Here is what I recommend:
create a way for Droid owners to play/design BoD
create a way for BoD play/design on Home PC
create a way for BoD to be played on TVs, perhaps even with a dedicated controller.
promote the game using a more aggressive approach
I know some of that seems a bit far fetched, but I think BoD is worthy of those efforts. |

I agree vega, Bod could be a HUGE success, I would have to say that the biggest limitation is that advertising is hard. For instance, in the iPhone app store the best way to get an app to sell is to start off with it in the hot apps list, and then after that keep it in the top 25 most sold apps. Unfortunatly that is VERY difficult to accomplish, and so presently the only way people are hearing about the game is the odd player whom searches for something along the lines of a racing game, or timetrial, but frankly it is just a bit rare that this will come up in a search. The other way people would hear would have to be from the exsisting players telling all there friends to play it(something I have done but none of them ever wanted to actually buy the game, they just wanted to play it on mine).
Porting it to droid would be an excelent choice, provided we could manage some good advertising(Perhaps branching out to popular forums discussing Droid apps and sort of sharing this app we like? Believe it or not that actually works rather well for apps on the phone I use). The trick is to get it rather well known and it becomes a huge success.
If it could be played on PC, most would expect it to be a playable flash game or something of the sort. They probably would not want to pay 99 cents to play a game, which as far as they can tell is no better than the average game they can play on kongregate or something. It would be tricky convincing people that the game is worth paying for.
Sorry Vega, but I cannot think of any way that it could be successful as a game on a TV. Enless it was sold in a bundle with a bunch of popular mobile games (games like bejeweled, and such, that are known by everyone). |

Tyler | | | How about xbox arcade? |

Vega | | | Oh. Getting BoD onto a major gaming console would be tremendous. However, simliar to what Pickle said, I don't know if there is a viable market for it. Who is gonna want to ggther round a big flat panel TV and watch someone play the same level over and over again. It would be a 1 person gig, which cripples the possibilities that many games thrive on. I am not sure a major gaming label would push very hard for the production of a single player, highly repetitive biking game.
I was more talking about electronically porting it your TV, and playing by yourself when you want to. So instead of playing on your PC, play on a big screen. Really no different than making your flat panel your PC monitor, which many people already do for various reasons.

BikerBrian | | | Vega, with all that time spent on xMoto, you could've completed a few more level packs on BoD. I, for one, don't buy your story that you've only completed 4 packs. Perhaps you don't want to mess up your graph by submitting subpar games? |
|
Laser | | | Vega doesn't want to spend hours trying to get top spot in a pack if Mike is just going to take it back. |
|
Vega | | | There is only one other pack that I downloaded for which I have not submitted. That is the Newbie Pack. But it was for my wife. She has completed almost all the levels, and since I was helping with some of it, I have also played those levels a little bit. But when I say a little bit, I am talking less than 100 tries on any level in the pack. Basically playing to complete it to move on to the next level. Aside from that, I have no other HoF level packs on my palm. |
|
Laser | | | I still maintain that had you played every level, it wouldn't have taken you over 10,000 to get gold in the few levels you played. By playing different tracks, you learn new tricks that help where you least expect. |
|
Vega | | | ok |
|
Laser | | | That was a short reply, sorry if I offended you. I expected even a really cool sad face emoticon. |

Vega | | | i could have used this...
if that was the way i felt, but alas, i did not, so i did not. |
|
Laser | | | That's what I'm talking about. |
|
thedudeguy | | | ...off track discussion aside, I still think it would be perfect if sz requested a review from 148apps, as they will give reviews to any games that have been released ever for the world to see. Many of my favorite games were ones that were reviewed on 148apps |
|
Mr.pickle. | | | To be honest I am starting to wonder weather or not sz even realises we are still posting here.. |
|
thedudeguy | | | and to completely de-rail this conversation... I entered a contest... for the game hydro thunder hurricane... and it's based on youtube... and judged by views... so GOGOGO http://www.youtube.co m/watch?v=qz0Xw4lIfVo
I apologize for the cheezy voice, as today I'm feeling alittle sick and well, yelling HYDRO THUNDER HURRICANE is in the rules... |
|
thedudeguy | | | I'm still here, patiently waiting for iBoDesign so I can get back to making (and playing) levels |
|
thedudeguy | | | Strangely enough, my emails to sz are getting rejected |
|
Mr.pickle. | | | 'sigh' I guess he has given up this game :/ To get him making stuff for it again it would probably have to start selling like crazy in the appstore or something. It's sad I really really love this game but it appears to be dying |
