Palindrome riddle

Mike's palindrome comment caused me (and Alpha) to think of a riddle related to palindromes and BoD.

The Riddle:
-------------
- Assume you have 6 digits worth of total tries on Bike or Die, where the last 4 digits are a palindrome.

- After a single attempt to nail a sub-30 on Neoslope, the last 5 digits of your attempts become a palindrome.

- Not gonna happen, so you switch to Eggs and spend another single (unsuccessful) try attempting to beat BBs gold time. Now the middle 4 digits of your total number of tries is a palindrome.

- Finally, you give the big jump in Fire Cavern one shot. Now all 6 digits of your attempt total form a palindrome.

The Question:
----------------
What color are the bus driver's eyes? (just kidding). The real question is: "How many total tries do you have now?"

If you think you know the answer, send it to me in a PM before Monday, July 21, 2008. The winner will be the first person to submit a correct answer. The names of all who submit a correct answer will be posted in the order they were received.

The winner will receive... hmm... world-wide fame and admiration .

Oh and the bus driver's eyes are green.

The answers that I've received so far and the ones yet to be submitted will be put before the Official Olympic Palindrome Riddle Judging Panel Committee to test for their level of correctness and authenticity.

Let me put it this way, just because I've already received entries, doesn't mean I've received the correct one yet .
Lee
Are you the guy that sets these for the Times?
BikerBrian
How'd you guess, Lee?

Actually, I just raided the prize closet and found lots more world-wide fame and admiration to go around, so keep those guesses coming. I will post a list on Monday of all who get the correct answer.

But I did find out yesterday that my name, Lee McDonald Paterson, anagrams into... "pre-adolescent old man" - who would have thought?
BikerBrian
Now that is hilarious! Sounds like a pretty good fit. How in the world did you find that out?

The Solution(s):

Well it turns out there are 2 solutions to the riddle that I posted last week.

Solution #1:
198888 Last 4 digits 8888
198889 last 5 digits 98889
198890 middle 4 digits 9889
198891 all 6 digits 198891

Although the above solution was what I had in mind, PiNerd (the first to weigh in with an answer) offered an alternate solution that is "technically" correct, based on the way I presented the riddle:

199999 Last 4 9999 and last 5 digits 99999
200000 last 5 digits 00000
200001 middle 4 digits 0000
200002 all 6 digits 200002

Xuzz was the first to respond with solution #1.

Ibanez also got 198891.

Lee was the first to offer both solutions.

Mike Flips responded with 198891 and 342,345 (his actual number of tries, just in case it was a trick question).

Thanks to everyone who played. If you have a mom, wife, or girlfriend that says you're wasting too much time on BoD, you can now tell them that it is educational (you can thank me later ).

Way to go guys.
PiNerd
So I win?

It wasn't fair anywa because we are in different time zones. I think Lee should win for both solutions.
BikerBrian
PiNerd, you are ALL winners in my book!
