Mr.pickle.
Looks like Vega gained a pretty good lead at 40ish seconds, but almost lost it crossing the "Kong" but stuck the back well over the invisible ground over the N and managed to get back the lead. If you were able to keep that lead you got at 40 seconds and the speedboost near the end you could cut off another half a second or so it seems..

pickle - i see what you're seeing, of course, but in my years of playing this game, and watching head to head replays, after truly getting to know a track very well, I would read a head to head like this one (and most) a bit differently.

First of all... bottom line.. 56.xx is absolutely possible here. Half second? um yah probably somewhere around there. but honestly, you're talking about an absolute MASTERY of this map at that point. It's really not very realistic. I landed 57.xx 5 times. Obviously, I could continue playing, land it many more times, and eventually, miraculously, land a 56.xx.

As for the comparison to Spence's run, I look at it like this. Spence had a superb run in every way except he lost a moment on the drop at the big tree. This is where I capitalized. The part over Kong is where I don't see it the same way as you. We are literally stuck like glue to each other throughout almost this whole track, but when I pull ahead for the lead at the drop, it becomes a legit lead. At Kong, he doesn't ever really catch up to me. It's just I arrive at the slow down point while he is still flyin in from behind me. That's exactly why I retake the lead right away when I re-grip on the N. It's because he hit that slow down point after me, allow me to continue my true lead that had seemingly disappeared. These head to heads can play tricks on your eyes if you're not careful. You have to learn how to read the leads correctly in variation to speed. I discussed this with PMD a long while back on Pipe Universe years ago:

 PMD vs. Vega

So while there may be another few frames to be had here, I am quite pleased with my run. I hit 58.08, then 57.96 twice, then 57.62, then 57.48, then 57.18. I think I wrung this out pretty well.

Good luck on that 56.xx

Wow, vega calm down I in this case actually wasn't trying to start an argument, lol. But spence didn't stick his wheel on the N as well, regaurdless of weather or not he caught up, you did gain additional time there.

Hehe, laser

Excellent run. I don't know why I didn't see that drop as a possibility before. Also I think you handled Kong better as well. I haven't played in quite a while and my palm is dead so I think you're pretty safe.
