13 years for me. I live in Kansas City and if anyone is ever traveling this way I would love to meet an old internet buddy in person. I encourage anyone willing to add me on Facebook (Adam Imber).

This game was a great community and while I won't list everyone out as beautifully as PMD did I will list two things I remember to this day.

Mr. Pickle - oh how we went back and forth lol. And yet, what a good guy. Pickle and I are friends on facebook, and I've seen a while back that he got married and I believe recently had a child and it brings me nothing but genuine happiness to see such things from people who I barely knew, but yet felt so close to.

On the other side I feel so connected can be devastating. Henoch once told me his hometown and how it flooded and since then I've read story of how it was hit by another huge flood and I saw the damage online and all I could do was hope he was okay. I'll likely never know, but these connections really do stay with you.

got back after almost 6 years, hello guys.
Since the game stop working on iphone I never played again. Just have an idea, why cant we just raise funds (all together, like kickstarter) to help SZ update the game again.? I miss this game.
We need to know how much money is necessary and how many of you would help, so we can calculate. Dont know, just an idea.
PMD
I'd be on board for contributing. I guess we would need a willing SZ.

Wow loading this up on a whim, can't believe the Bike or Die community still kicking! SZ stopped working on it just before the level editor was done for iOS (I had played around with an early beta - it was amazing to not have to use the palm emulator!). Also game for contributing funds to help development costs, but if SZ would rather I'd be happy to get my hands dirty and port the code myself too - more than a decade later I've ended up as a software engineer

The idea of updating the game on this - and porting to other platforms, has been mooted and knocked around on a few occasions of course. Most recently by Vega a year otr two ago. He was wanting to take the whole shebang over and get it re-coded and re-released.

I think he tried to contact Sz about it without success. Seems to me Sz keeps this here as a sort of long standing monument to important times of pretty intense camaraderie and competition in a few peoples lives - on the one hand (which is pretty rare and rather lovely, given the ephemeral nature of most things digital) - and out of courtesy to those of us pesky and annoying enough to keep playing or dropping by and commenting - on the other

I really don't see him having a change of heart and deciding to resurrect the game himself, or allowing anyone else to touch the hallowed code - however expertly and respectfully that was done.

I would love to be proved wrong on this though!

Hello Andrew

Where do you play the game.? I havent play since it was discontinued on iOS.

Hi Felipe,

Long time since I last saw you on here!

In answer to your question :-

I play on an iPod Touch 3rd Gen (I think it is). Anything later is very flaky in terms of running the code. If that's what you were asking.

Or - I'm based in the U.K. - if that's what you mean

Thanks for the post, Carl. Glad to see you here

Bike or Die will live the test of time.

It's wonderful to see veterans check in! Out of every gaming community I have been a part of, the Bike or Die brethren has been the kindest. Encouraging healthy competition. Never discriminating on age or spelling (shouts out to Mr. Pickle!!!)

Thank you, Sz, for creating a second home for us digital bicyclists. For bringing together the most incredible people from around the world. Thank you for continuing to host the Bike or Die server.

Another thank you to all of you beautiful bikers. There are too many good fellas to mention. You all have helped to sustain the legend of Bike or Die with your talents, creativity, and ambition.

Spence- you are baffling in the comp! Holding the Steps gold alone makes YOU the champ. Always slaying it on those alternate routes.

Laser- your skills are terrifying! Not only are you fierce competition, but a great level creator. So many routes on LaserTag! Thanks again for the years of comp.

PMD!!!!! This will be your 15th Anniversary on Bike or Die. It is great to have known you for so long! "Known". What does the acronym stand for???

FEL!PE~ I haven't had much contact with you, but appreciate you coming back to the game. Maybe we can figure out a way we can get back to playing.

thedudeguy! Welcome back! It has been forever! Good for you for becoming a software engineer! Let's work on BoD 3.0

I know the members of BoD would love a 3.0. If not even 3.0, a port. If y'all are looking to develop, I would gladly contribute. My main profession is audio engineering. I can do some programming as well.

These days I've been researching software for game production. Unreal Engine and Godot have been my final choices. Godot has a more permissive license. They also just received a mini-grant from Epic.

Revitalizing Bike or Die would be a dream come true. There are obstacles to it.

Sadly the digital Palm stores are offline. I can't find a way to purchase Bike or Die again. I synced my Treo today.... and it deactivated my BoD app. What a sad day. Anyone know how to run scripts on Palm OS? Or know of a website that still sells valid codes?
PMD
Champ(Tony Hawk), I do have an old Palm Treo. If I remember correctly, there is some file where your activation is stored, so if you have a backup anywhere of your data (which I think the Palm would do), you might be able to just use a file manager and put it back. When I last played, I was manually submitting my saved games by just uploading off the SD card in the Treo. The sync no longer was working for me.

Good to have old "friend" check in. ChampTh, Thedudeguy, bones, Spence, Laser, BikerBrian (I always read that as BikerBrain), FEL!PE FM, and Smalls. And of course new friends--Andrew A.

I still love this game. Really want to give my regards to SZ, he hasn't replied for quite some time now.

Ever seen bike or die on Twitch? Yeah, follow @parkerlreed
on twitch or "Parker Reed" on youtube - he's been playing Bike or Die in the Mu emulator, on a Nintendo Switch. Me? I still have a T|T3 for playing BoD when the time comes.

But it really is a good time for Palm OS rights now. A few of us are still enthusiastic for the Palm OS platform, and have started a bit of preservation efforts. PalmDB.net will have archives of all the Palm OS software we can find, and we've saved all the BoD levels in case the site dies unexpectedly. There's a few of us on discord that chat, and Bike or Die is pretty fondly remembered by many too. Anyone is welcome to come join us if you like. discord.gg/Nxd4US

I would also be happy to help kickstart a BoD 3.0, or even a donate towards full release of the source code.

But if you need a copy of the game (as abandonware), check out PalmDB.net.

15 years is a long time! I joined the game after the peak, but I still think this is the game I’ve put the most effort into! I was only active a short time compared to most of you, guess I played a bit too much and burned out for a while ^^ maybe I’ll pick it up again soon & #128517; It boggles my mind to see how much Andrew is dominating at the moment!

Lately I have been going through the app store to try and find another bike game that can measure up to this one, but nothing even comes close! I am however fortunate enough to still have a working device with the game installed

A BoD 3.0 would be the best thing ever!
Gus
I always find myself checking in every ear or so. BoD is still a gem. Hope everyone's keeping well. I'm going to try and find me some way to play this again, I'm still salty about losing a couple of golds (and the Foothill Half-Circle tie).
Laser
What's wrong with the Foothill Half-circle tie? True story - I got that gold while I was at a sleep clinic, clearly failing that test.

I would also gladly donate to a BoD 3.0 , but I am not code savvy so not helping out that way. Did convince me to dig out the old IPod Touch and try again. Never got use to touch controls as I started on a palm pilot when I really played. Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe!
Mr.pickle.
So I know the last post here is from about 5 months ago, but I also would gladly donate if there were a way to re release this game in some capacity. Literally if any of you coded well enough to build the same game and call it something else I’m sure many of us would donate to get it up and running even if it were just for us loyal few. I would be playing on the regular still if I had any way to participate, but it’s getting hard to find devices that can still load it... if you can find one it probably needs to be constantly plugged in which is a bit frustrating..

Anyone know anyone who builds that sort of app for iPhone? I bet between the lot of us we could actually raise a decent amount of money if there were a shot at making it playable again. I don’t remember who but I know one of us has attempted to buy the rights from SZ.. Maybe we can enlist the help of some tech savvy redditors or something to track him down lol
thedudeguy
I took a stab at a 'BoD spiritual successor', but egads I found I'm out of my element trying to work out a physics engine. I was able to extract some of the structured data from the level files, which is promising (and I could even see becoming a new way to make a level editor on any platform), but it's not particularly useful as you wouldn't be able to test. Ultimately, without the physics engine source code (however messy) I don't think I can replicate.

In trying to find more recent contact info, I've found a few recent academic works from Sz, most around hefty simulations and supercomputing, so at least he's still kicking! (If he's on a PhD path I wish him luck, or hope he's already succeeded!)

http://www.framsticks.com/

If you look on this site it looks like SZ and Maciej Komosinski worked on this program together. Has anyone tried getting in touch with Maciej to see if he is still in contact or would know how to get in contact with him? Looks like Maciej was/is a professor at poznan University of technology.....I started looking through their staff on the website but its hard to find the faculty page as most of the site is in Polish and google translating the page I think makes it pretty confusing for an english speaker...I am not sure if he still works there or not, but I also looked up framsticks on youtube and found that The framsticks program has uploaded videos on youtube as recent as 5 months ago....(I am writing this post as I continue to dig) the guy hosting the videos on youtube...MIGHT be Maciej, I am not 100% sure. Even if it is him, it doesn't mean he is still in contact with sz, but sz is still listed on the framsticks home page as being one of the founders of the program so there is a solid chance there.

^^ Seems to be his personal home page. It does list an email address.
