A bit better

Not looked at this before, but quite startling!

Coming back to this level after a 7ish year gap, it was obvious that my previous route wasn't going to cut it.

I played around and got a lucky first section with this method. I then looked at other's routes and found that Kam had done this before (not surprisingly..), and looked at a H2H between K and BB. Kam was miles ahead at the significant first checkpoint, but BB's superior ending ( hard learnt, I'll wager) won out in the end.

It took less than 300 goes to get my run here. Most of those learning the slightly tricky timing to make the seamless initial jump into the third(?) section.

BB's finish is a masterclass - but.. He's giving away almost 2 seconds at the start.

I'll get back to this.

Wow. There's like an hour and a half of room here.

Just managed to take this

Not a great run, but it's a very inconsistent beginning so you don't get to the finish section very often! A BB class ending takes well over a second more off.
Kamirashi vs. Andrew A Andrew A
Good start - bad ending (from me)

Not sure where Kam sees another 1.4-ish seconds coming off his run. Perhaps he had a move up his sleeve? Not a compelling enough level for me to chase, and not needed.

If you check anytime in Kam - would love to see what you had in mind!

Managed to get this Silver yesterday, taking the top spot in the pack in the process

May play a few other levels in the pack before moving on to Standard levels. The only pack standing between me and (BOD) world domination..

MWWAHAHAhaha....

That will be an incredibly slow grind I think. If even doable.

Nice play here. Extremely close to taking gold. I actually have completed the entire BikeForce levelpack but on my computer (desktop PC).
I think BikerBrian or maybe someone else helped me get a PC copy a while back. Wasn't a fan of how it played though.
Didn't seem to have the same command/control as with my handheld. Watching this reminds me of playing this years ago.

Bro you missed this gold by a whisker!!
Andrew A's game on Bike or Pi Back Andrew A
Not really been able to play for the last week or so, and a bit undecided as to what I want to do anyway. Feeling a bit jaded with the game at the mo tbh, but had a go at this and took a fair chunk off my previous time. Only one place and 2 points though! (Boo!)

on the plus side - only 3 frames from Bronze, and I can say tha the Gold is beatable by a fair margin! (Huzzah!)

Maybe a weekend riding round Wales on a selection of Norton Commandos, Triumph Bonneville's. BSA Rocket 3's - and a sprinkling of Italian same period exotica, will rejuvenate the Mojo.

It's great having a brother with immaculate bike taste, and the wherewithal to have the collection.

Kick , Kick , KiCK,... KIICKK - RRoaRR!! Crobba, crobba, crobba... (that's the brit bikes.. )

Just noticed that this was secret - not deliberate - open.
Laser vs. Andrew A Andrew A
Yes - it's a tight level.

20.12 is possible to my certain knowledge..
Andrew A vs. BikerBrian Andrew A
Not wanting to play at the moment, but just looking back at old runs - I had a look at this.

Discounting the start , the really important move is at around 16 seconds. I spent ages experimenting with that awkward curve, and found that hitting it flat on, then holding on for as long as poss, and literally falling off the wall and letting your front wheel flop over the ledge at 17.50, sets you up for a lovely flat acceleration into the last curve, with power to the finish.

Actually - very easy to overdo the finish, so much power is available.

BB is ahead of me but overworks the ending, thinking that more effort is involved, maybe!

I did point this out at the time, as I remember..

Could be wrong though.

Back after a mini break, and surprised myself with this after only about half a dozen attempts. Not the quickest start - a bit bouncy, but the rest is mostly ok.
Aleksey vs. Laser Andrew A
Being still more in the mood to watch than play at the mo - I watched this (it's top of my list of Golds, for some reason)

Vega - your analysis was spot on. I've done a 3 way head to head, and I am level with Laser to the 'drop' point, with Aleksey a good bit behind, but he gets a better 'hoick' (tech term..) back up than me which puts him back in the running.

My previous best was slower to that point, but the hoick was even better than Aleksey's (as I remember).

There is no 'requirement' to go faster or slower with either technique to that point - as you surmised.

It's almost like you've played this game once or twice...

I'm putting off Standard Levels, in case you hadn't guessed. Still feeling a bit jaded, so this is a nice form of procrastination whilst still feeling involved.

A hugely frustrating level... I'd forgotten.
Aleksey vs. Laser Vega
lol. Right on man.
Andrew A's game on Fire Cavern Vega
Makes me wonder if you play if it more aggressively like Laser... maybe it becomes less frustrating.
Aleksey vs. Laser Vega
Just watched this several times very closely, and I think you are right Andrew.

If you visualize Laser doing Aleksey's trick as an "alternate reality", he would have maintained a huge lead.

I visualized his alternate reality bike all the way to finish and by my estimation, high 33.x is not unimaginable here.
Laser vs. Andrew A Andrew A
Laser does very well here to keep contact with the ground (mostly) and continuous drive, after collecting the tail flag. The thing about the 'Hoick' move is that you always get an optimum drive on the way back (from a slower start - admittedly), and it gives you a decent head start.

Laser is just gaining on me a liiittle bit, before the final move (which he does about as well as poss), but it's not enough.

The Hoick can be done better, but Laser has pretty much maxed out the standard ending - imho.

As to your view that a high 33 is poss, Vega... Hmmm. I was pretty shocked to watch this and see Laser level with me at the end of the tail. I get a (deliberate) push off the last 'rib', and there is no braking done at all before hitting the step halfway along the tail. Not much to be gained there - seems to me. Maybe poss to go into the Hoick really fast, and get a big stretch and return, and the same at the finish, so - maybe possible. I'm not going to do it though - over to you buddy?..

Procrastination - working hard at avoiding effort...
